Maths- Symmetry

In maths our new focus it symmetry. When we began maths Edie gave us some toothpicks and blue tack. We had to make 3 Dimensional(3D) shapes out of the toothpicks and we had to count how many faces it had and on our second lesson we had to make one or more of these shapes (the numbers next to them are how many faces the shape had.

tetrahedron= 4
Pentagon= 5
Hexagon = 6
Heptagon = 7
Octagon = 8
Decahedron = 10
Dodecahedron = 12
Here are some/a couple of photos I took on the iPad during maths of some of the shapes I made, I only took photos on the first lesson so they are not exactly my best shapes I have made but they are still pretty good.

On Wednesday the 6th we learnt about vertex, faces and the edges and we learnt that if we have the vertex and face we can guess the edges with this simple equation...

so say we used the Octahedron it has 8 faces and 6 vertex and if you do V(vertex) + F(face) -2 then you get the answer so in case it would be 6 + 8 = 14 - 2 =12 and 12 is your answer so and Octagon has 8 faces 6 vertex and 12 edges.

Smoothie making! ( food technology )

Today(Monday November 20th 2017) we made smoothies in class for our food technology lesson/session. We made four smoothies and here is a list

That smoothie was wonderful, but sadly couldn't compete with Ms O'neil's.

At first I wasn't too sure about the spinach but it smelt amazing and then I had a little sip and it was THE BEST SMOOTHIE EVER.

Have you ever been to a library before? A library is a building with many many shelves with many many books. Libraries also have magazines, bean bags comfy places to relax and read, sometimes they have computers for researching and sometimes they have records and play calming music. All libraries are different some have more space or an up stairs place, some have board games and some have DVDs. Libraries are mostly used for reading but their are different kinds of libraries like public ones pop up one’s and school libraries. People go to libraries for different uses but mostly for reading.

Wall Hand Stands…

The first group I was in was in we were walking up the wall, we had to move our hands closer and closer until they were up to the wall and then we had to slowly walk back down. Once I had done that I began to do some wall hand stands. This activity was very fun.

When we went to the beam I first walked backwards then I turned around halfway and started doing the dip with my feet and then I did a scale balance and jumped off. This was my favourite activity.

Today's the day my brother jack went to war my sister Jennifer is comforting my mother, Jane.

My six year old brother is having a nap he has no idea what's going on, i think that's best.

Jack was the best person I've ever meet just like father but he died the other day and… Jack

Went to war instead i miss him so much but I still have here at home my little brother my sister my

Mother and our husky dog Vicks. before we moved to the city we lived on a peaceful farm it was hard

to move leaving all the animals behind but at least we have Vicks, anyway it would have been impossible

for us to bring the animals i'm smart enough to know that. Jack has always been in my heart and he

always will be, I will never forget him i know that i will love him and he will love me until the day i die.

Soon i'm thinking about getting a job as a nurse people need it out there and my family does to, and who knows maybe i'll see Jack out there, it's a small world.

Earlier this year I was eating with my friend at lunchtime in school. I had just placed a delicious  chocolate covered almond in my mouth when a group of girls came running past and bumped me and it fell right down my mouth.

I began to notice it was harder to breath and rushed to water fountain but that didn’t help. I tried to swallow it and it was helping a little but no one had come to help me. Then I noticed that somebody had come up and slapped me on the back it seemed to help me get it down my throat. I turned around and saw my best friend but I had gotten such a fright tears began to build up.

When I got home to my dads I still felt it just below my throat and hoped It wouldn’t come back.

Then she went to check on the bride Donna and made sure she got some beauty sleep. once that was done she was walking back to the beach and she saw her guard Garroth talking to someone with 2 guards standing next to him at the top of the hill outside her house. The Giant Wave

One summer holiday I went down to a beach in Whitianga called Hahei beach. My family and I walked on to the hot sand  and saw the beached was packed. On this sunny day  when we finally found a spot and put up the beach umbrella I dropped the rest of the things and ran for the beach.

The waves at Hahei could be very big but I wasn't thinking about that when I ran for the ocean. When I hopped in it was refreshing but then when I turned my back for a second the waves hit me and i went tumbling through the waves.

I started running but the another wave caught my feet and dragged me back and it happened again and I couldn't breath. I opened my mouth to call out to my family but I just got salty water in my mouth and pushed over by another wave.

I decided to run like I was running from wolfs and the wave began to catch up to me "Oh no!" I cried "Not today." I then said and jumped over it so it wouldn't catch me and then I ran back to my family and stayed away from the beach for awhile.

The Silly Goat Gruff Book Review

Title: The Silly Goat Gruff

Type of book: Picture book

The silly goat gruff is a fantastic book. I enjoy picture books and it had amazing illustration. The authors name is Scott Tulloch he has also Illustrated this book. Scott Tulloch has also written I am not a worm and Tom and the dragon. The book I read today was filled with great vocabulary and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys picture books. The other thing is that I like about this book is that in every line there is a rhyming word. This book is funny and amusing over all it is a fabulous book. 

Keeping Ourselves Safe A.K.A K.O.S

Hi My name is Mia and this is my blog where i post all of my learning. This term we have been learning about K.O.S(which stands for keeping ourselves safe.). We have learn't what to do in different situations here is a question, please comment what you would do.

Halloween is a celebration that some people celebrate on the 31st of October. 

People celebrate Halloween in different ways but it is always something scary.

Some people go trick or treating and some people dress up or wait for the kids to come and trick or treat at their house. Some people think going trick or treating is pointless but what is pointless about free candy?

For Halloween you can dress up as whatever you want to be. Me and my friend are going as vampires. Halloween is fun but not everyone likes Halloween and that's fine everyone likes different things.

Halloween was orgonally called All-hallows and eventually evolved into Halloween.

My Mother the Witch

Hi, this story is about the day my mum showed up to school as a witch. My mum is a make-up artist and a hair dresser(in training). One day she showed up to school as a Witch. I remember two kids from my class coming up yo me and saying they thought she was stalking them. When my mum finally found me I told her she looked awesome and then she told me she came here to try and embarrass me and I just laughed.

Planet Earth (part 2)

Planet earth is the home to every living thing we know. Earth has been our only home for centuries but how old is it really. How did it come into existence and what is it made of?

4.6 billion years ago earth was created from the remnants of dead stars that collided in a giant dirty gas cloud. The cloud became denser in its centre and formed an accretion disk.

Small particles began to start clumping together and got bigger and bigger and are now what we call planets today.

This process took 10 to 20 million years and is still not understood well.

Around that time when the solar system was just formed and was a bit chaotic, an object around as big as mars collided with our home, planet earth if the object had been any more bigger it might have destroyed planet earth. Materials from earth smashed out into orbit which is what formed the moon.

At this time earth was hot and burning with lava and a toxic atmosphere. Earth was constantly being hit by asteroids.

But something was about to change, earth began to cool down a lot water in the earth began to rise up to the surface and rained down on earth only to evaporate and become clouds again….

The Cyclone Cook of April 13th 2017

Hi, this is my blog where i share my learning with people! Today i'm publishing my weather report. In April 13th this year(2017) we had something called a cyclone cook.

Apparently it was meant to be the worst storm since 1968, but did we overreact to the Cyclone Cook?

The flood ravaged bay of plenty is already in a state of emergency as the cyclone cook advances closer to our shores, ahead of this low coming off the Tasman that is packed with heavy rain affecting the south island before tracking the north. already rain is starting to fall across the top of the south island and brushing over the coromandel.Ahead of the forecast is bad weather, the red cross has pre-positioned supplies and has terms across the country on standby ready to respond.Now there are fresh concerns cook may make landfall closer to Auckland and the coromandel, sending even more rain over the flood-hit bay of plenty.

The temperature of the air is controlled by 2 different sorts of waves of light 1 that we can can see which is the visible light and one that we can’t see

The sun rays don’t actually heat up the air directly because the air is very transparent to our sun's ray so almost everything that comes from the sun just passes through the air it doesn't really warm it up the fact is that the sun comes up
